About ConnecTX Therapy

At Riverview Chiropractic Clinic, Dr. Rija Khan offers ConnecTX Therapy as part of her hands-on approach to helping patients move better, feel better, and recover with confidence.

ConnecTX is a form of Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, often called IASTM. This means Dr. Khan uses a specially shaped treatment tool to gently assess and treat muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and scar tissue.

ConnecTX was developed within the chiropractic profession and is designed to help clinicians treat soft tissue problems with precision. The tool has smooth, double-beveled edges and curved surfaces that allow it to fit different areas of the body comfortably.

During treatment, Dr. Khan uses controlled strokes over the skin to find areas of tightness, irritation, scar tissue, or restricted movement. These areas may feel bumpy, thick, tender, or less flexible. The goal is not simply to “scrape” the tissue, but to help improve how the soft tissues move and glide.

ConnecTX may help by:

Research on IASTM suggests it may help reduce pain and improve function when used as part of a broader care plan. One chiropractic case series found improvements in pain behaviour and pain interference after care that included IASTM, although more research is still needed.

Dr. Khan’s training makes ConnecTX a natural fit for her practice. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta before earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northeast College of Health Sciences, where she graduated with honours. Her background in movement science, anatomy, rehabilitation, and chiropractic care helps her use ConnecTX in a thoughtful and patient-specific way.

At Riverview Chiropractic Clinic, ConnecTX is rarely used alone. Dr. Khan may combine it with chiropractic care, exercise, stretching, rehabilitation, posture advice, and movement-based treatment. This helps create a plan that is focused on the patient’s goals — not just the sore spot.

Some patients feel immediate looseness or easier movement after treatment. Others may feel mild tenderness, redness, or temporary marks on the skin. These responses are usually short-term and are discussed before care begins.

Dr. Khan’s goal is to help patients understand their body, improve movement, and return to the activities they enjoy with less pain and more confidence.
