About Webster Technique

At Riverview Chiropractic Clinic, Dr. Rija Khan offers Webster Technique care for patients during pregnancy.

The Webster Technique is a special chiropractic assessment and adjustment focused on the pelvis, sacrum, and sacroiliac joints. It was developed by Dr. Larry Webster, founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Today, the ICPA describes Webster as a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment used to improve function in the sacral and pelvic region.

During pregnancy, the body changes quickly. Hormones soften ligaments, posture shifts, the low back works harder, and the pelvis may feel tight, uneven, or uncomfortable. Webster Technique care is designed to gently assess and improve how the pelvis and surrounding soft tissues are moving.

It is important to understand that Webster Technique is not a baby-turning treatment. The chiropractor does not touch or move the baby. The goal is to support better pelvic balance, improve comfort, and reduce tension around the low back, hips, pelvis, and supporting ligaments.

Webster Technique may help patients experiencing:

Research on Webster Technique is still limited, and more high-quality studies are needed. Some studies and case reports suggest chiropractic care during pregnancy may help with low back and pelvic pain, while early Webster research reported positive outcomes from surveyed chiropractors, though that research had limitations.

Dr. Khan is well suited to provide this type of care. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northeast College of Health Sciences, where she graduated with honours. She is certified in Webster Technique and also uses Diversified adjustments, Activator, Cox Flexion-Distraction, NIMMO, ConnecTX therapy, custom orthotic training, and sports performance principles.

At Riverview Chiropractic Clinic, Dr. Khan’s approach is gentle, thoughtful, and patient-centred. She takes time to explain what she is doing, listens to the patient’s concerns, and builds a treatment plan around comfort, safety, movement, and function.

Her goal is simple: to help pregnant patients feel supported, move more comfortably, and feel confident during an important stage of life.
